Network Slicing: revolutionising critical communications in 5G

Session description

Thanks to Network Slicing technology, a functionality that guarantees resources in the 5G+ network, we position ourselves as leaders in Europe by introducing a service that will transform emergency communications. In this presentation, we will highlight the pioneering solution implemented in 112 Extremadura, which combines 5G Network Slicing and cloud-based Push-To-Talk. This technology allows rescue teams to exchange audio, video, and location in real-time, improving coordination and effectiveness in critical situations, ensuring priority communications even during moments of congestion.

Additionally, we will showcase other Telefónica services based on Slicing, explaining different business models and consumer experiences to adapt to various use cases, all with an innovative technological vision aligned with our OpenGateway initiative.

Demo Description

Video of the “5G Slicing for Emergencies” project, recorded with 112 Extremadura during a real emergency drill. The video will show 112 Extremadura emergency units in action, using ruggedized 5G+ terminals to communicate in real-time. Rescue scenes would be visualized where agents exchange video, audio, and location, highlighting the smooth communication even in rural or congested areas.
