Open and softwarized networks

Telefónica’s networks can be described in a very simple way as two very powerful accesses, fiber in the case of fixed access and 5G in the case of mobile access, complemented by network intelligence (hosted in the core of the network) that enables the services that can be provided through access and automation capabilities so that the operation of the network provides the necessary levels of quality.

Networks make use of the unstoppable advance of technology to provide services with ever more demanding requirements in a more efficient way and respond in an agile way to all the changes that new services require. In short, Telefónica’s networks continue to showcase the Company’s technological capabilities, being pioneers in many facets as they have been throughout history.

This booklet reviews the needs that these networks have to cover in such a way that the rationale of the main characteristics of the networks is found and these characteristics are described.
