The first mobile services
The advent of mobile services meant a fundamental change, providing personal communications, rather than between homes and offices, enabling ubiquitous communication and the massification of telecommunication services.
Telefónica was, once again, also a pioneer in this change that mobile services meant, having one of the first mobile networks worldwide and providing nationwide coverage before most mobile operators.
This notebook reviews the evolution of Telefónica’s mobile networks from the precursor systems (TAV, mensaphonic system,…) to the evolution of the different mobile generations from the analogue, GSM system (2G) to the current 5G deployment.
