Telefónica Tech is adding Akamai Technologies’ asset segmentation solution ‘Akamai Guardicore’ to its portfolio, complemented by its professional services, to help large companies reinforce their cybersecurity strategy in the face of the greater attack surface that the current hyperconnected environment can entail.
‘Akamai Guardicore Segmentation’ is a segmentation solution that implements Zero Trust principles within the network. This service visualises activity within any IT environment and, based on that visualisation, implements precise micro-segmentation policies, quickly stops potential vulnerabilities and isolates security breaches.
The solution collects detailed information about the customer’s IT infrastructure, contextualises and segments it with tags after analysing the behaviour of the assets with artificial intelligence, and creates a dynamic map so that the organisations’ security teams can consult the network activity in real time or historically and make data-based decisions.
Telefónica Tech will also offer its professional services for the implementation and operation of the ‘Akamai Guardicore Segmentation’ service. To this end, the company has more than 2,500 cybersecurity professionals who provide uninterrupted service from its Digital Operations Center (DOC) and its global network of Security Operations Centres (SOC).
Network segmentation is a priority security control that provides numerous benefits to organisations as it is the main barrier to preventing lateral spread (a technique used to expand into an already compromised network) of cyberattacks. The solution ‘Akamai Guardicore Segmentation’ allows organisations to avoid the damage of ransomware attacks (malware that completely controls the computer by blocking or encrypting user information and then demanding a ransom in exchange for recovering the data) by segmenting the network and applying precise security policies.
Likewise, the solution has the capacity to control and restrict communications between applications to reduce the attack surface, protect multicloud environments and data centres with Zero Trust principles, secure critical assets against advanced threats thanks to microsegmentation, as well as detect and block the lateral movement of attackers in real time.
