Telefónica Tech partners with Proofpoint to provide Advanced Corporate Email Protection Services

The new service, Clean Email Enterprise, is cloud-based and integrates managed security solutions to provide unparalleled protection against email-born threats such as ransomware, Business Email Compromise and impersonation attacks.

Telefónica Tech, Telefónica’s digital business unit, today announced the launch in the Spanish market of Clean Email Enterprise, in partnership with cybersecurity company Proofpoint to protect today’s number one cyber threat vector: corporate email.

Telefónica Tech and Proofpoint are teaming up to offer this cloud-based service that integrates numerous managed security solutions and provides companies of all sizes with unparalleled, advanced protection against the growing number of email-borne threats. Today, worldwide over 300 billion emails are sent and received each day and more than 90% of targeted attacks start in email.

The ‘Clean Email Enterprise’ service leverages the capabilities of Proofpoint Email Protection, the industry-leading email gateway, which can be deployed as a cloud service or on premises and catches both known and unknown threats that others miss. Powered by advanced machine learning technology, Email Protection accurately classifies emails and can detect and block threats that don’t involve malicious payload, such as impostor email or also known as business email compromise (BEC). An attack derived from a Business Email Compromise scenario aims to gain access to critical company information from an email that appears to come from an employee, usually in an important position.

In addition, ‘Clean Email Enterprise” uses Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection (TAP) to detect, analyze and block advanced threats before they reach the inbox, including ransomware and other threats hidden in malicious attachments and URLs. TAP also detects threats and risks in cloud apps, connecting email attacks related to credential theft or other attacks.
