Madrid, August 6, 2020.–Telefónica has revalidated its presence in the FTSE4Good sustainability index and has joined the Euronext Vigeo-Eiris Europe 120, both specialized in evaluating the performance of companies in terms of sustainability.
With respect to the FTSE4Good Index, created by the London Stock Exchange, Telefónica has improved its score to 4.3 points, exceeding the sector average. Regarding the telecommunications sector, the index values three aspects related to the environment (commitment to climate change, environmental aspects in the supply chain and water management), three social areas (labor standards, human rights and community and social aspects of the supply chain) and three governance factors (corporate governance, fiscal transparency and anti-corruption).
As for the Euronext Euronext Vigeo-Eiris Europe 120, it is part of Moody’s and has highly specialized analytical tools, with the aim of promoting the use of global ESG (environmental, social and governance) standards in the market. It is made up of those companies that have a better ESG performance and that make their commitment to sustainability visible. The ranking, which Telefónica has just joined, is updated every 6 months, depending on the companies that have obtained the highest score. In this edition, the average score of the members is 63 out of 100, being the highest 72 and the lowest 56.
