ProFuturo, a digital education programme for vulnerable environments launched by Fundación Telefónica and Fundación ¨la Caixa¨, has been awarded the GSMA GLOMO 2023 award at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in the category ‘Best Digital Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals’.
ProFuturo aims to reduce the global education gap by providing quality digital education to children in vulnerable environments in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Asia. It is present in 45 countries, and has already benefited nearly 27 million children and trained more than 1.3 million teachers.
Connecting all to leave no one behind
The programme relies on technology and innovative teaching methodologies to help teachers and students develop skills to meet the challenges of the 21st century. It also works with other institutions and companies and aims to create a large international network of teachers who teach, learn and share knowledge to achieve, together, a better education in the world.
In 2023 Profuturo has launched a proposal to boost mathematical literacy and is approaching its seventh anniversary with the publication of new findings that demonstrate that technology and educational innovation, together, can achieve educational transformation in the most vulnerable corners of the world.
The GSMA Global Mobile (GLOMO) 2023 Awards recognise the contribution of companies, individuals and governments that have driven the greatest innovation in the mobile industry.
