I joined in the summer of 2000 as a secretary in the Services and Systems Development Department where I worked for six years and from then on I have moved around a lot, I was called to work in another department and at that time there was an internal reorganisation and I ended up in two different areas that opened the door to others and so far.

I have worked for the Marketing department, Channel 1004, Telco, Television, etc. and finally in Compliance where I have worked for five years until April 2023.

In all these departments my main role has been that of management secretary supporting the directors and teams, in general, in all administrative matters and as I like to learn and I am very curious I have had additional functions to my position in each of the areas and I have even become an internal trainer and I have given courses to my colleagues related to Office 365 and Compliance.

Currently I have had the biggest change of all. I have been at Bluevía since May, working as an executive secretary and supporting the CEO and three other directors together with my colleague Lourdes Lázaro, and we are also the purchasing managers of this company, so I am still learning non-stop.

I am very happy for all this trajectory. I have enjoyed a lot throughout all these years and by moving around so much, I have been lucky enough to meet many people who have given me a lot in all areas of my life.

I think I have always been very lucky because they have allowed me to work on what I like and to contribute my ideas and suggestions, which have been carried out and have been highly valued, and I have always surrounded myself with very good professionals, some of whom are already great friends.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly satisfied with or proud of?

I am proud to have collaborated in the start-up of divisions that were practically starting or even from scratch, such as Fusión, Telco, Compliance, etc. and when I look back and see all the progress made and that I have planted my seeds, I feel totally proud and satisfied with the work I have done.

I am also very happy to have built, together with several other colleagues, the Telefónica Secretariat team where we share basic information for our job and where we have created synergies that are really important for us and our teams. There are now more than 150 of us and this group now functions completely on its own. I think this is the biggest achievement here.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

Well, something as essential as communication between people. We started out in a very basic way and we have been adapting over time to new technologies. We are an innovative and cutting-edge company and we have gone from the first telephone switchboards to something as unimaginable as the metaverse, but in the end everything is based on the creation of relationships and links between people and in this we are pioneers, unique, original and unequalled.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

A good and complicated question. I hope that it will be the same as it is now, following the evolution and creating links that we can’t even imagine right now. I suppose that if we told someone at the beginning of the last century where we have got to, they would think it was science fiction, so it’s the same for us now if we put our heads a hundred years down the line, we’ll have to use our imagination.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

No, I couldn’t, I’m a sociable person and I love communicating with my family, friends, colleagues, and it’s also a good working tool. Yes, we should learn to disconnect from social networks and focus more on face-to-face relationships, but in the end it is very useful in our daily lives.

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

With onion, always, much juicier, of course.

I can think of several people, but a former colleague of mine comes to mind. I am particularly fond of him and I really like the way he communicates because he is a very passionate person who is very proud to belong to Telefónica. He has evolved a lot since I have known him and I am sure that everything he tells us is very interesting. This is Luis Massó Jiménez.

In #Thespanishomelettething tag section we interview Telefónica’s employees on a variety of topics, while trying to solve one of humanity’s greatest dilemmas.
