Meet Elena Rodríguez and Mónica Ruíz from Movistar Social Networks.

How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

Mónica: 31 years, the ebony wedding anniversary. A lifetime. I have lived through the evolution of this company and its continuous transformation. From my beginnings, always on the commercial side. My first assignment was in Sabadell, in the offices of face-to-face customer service. WOW, the queues that formed before opening the doors to the public were incredible… a thousand anecdotes and incredible situations, that was the best learning experience I’ve had in my entire career.

-Elena: Not so much for me, but a whole life, already 26 years. Starting as an intern and almost always close to the clients, especially this last stage in social networks. What can I say, so many anecdotes, so many colleagues, and above all so many clients… Very sweet moments and other more complicated ones, but always trying to contribute.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you feel particularly satisfied with or proud of?

Without a doubt, and we both agree as almost always, the Movistar RRSS service, for being something we created from scratch, starting with foroimagenio, because we could and we dared to do different things, which is what we usually define as Martian things, things where the great Paquita Salas, of whom we are very very fans, would have fit in perfectly as a partner, and all this without forgetting that the goal was and will always be to solve any problem of our customers as if they were friends or family. And because we created a diverse team with an atmosphere that is very, very difficult to achieve, with friends that we have kept and where we have met very different and interesting customers, and with meetings where we have managed to break labels such as the one that at Movistar we are distant and not very accessible to the customer. What’s more, this is where we met and since then we have been a tandem.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

To avoid repeating the most obvious things, we would highlight the social factor, facilitating connections between people, regardless of distance (as in our case), helping to reduce the rural divide, making it possible to work from almost anywhere (who knows if one day from Mars). When we communicate, our lives grow.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

With the deployment of 5G and everything that comes from AI, Telefónica should be able to bring all the improvements that are coming to as many people as possible, thus being a clear driver of social change. We see ourselves working in the Metaverse.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

Definitely not. It’s our medium, almost almost natural. Yes, we could try to stop looking at certain things on the mobile, for example networks, or email, but please, when WhatsApp made it possible to infinitely expand audio messages, that day made our lives much better. We have audios between us that could be perfect podcasts. We also have some audios in which you can only hear laughter in one direction and in the other; we have them for therapy: when we are having a bad day, they are medicine…

Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

We agree on this one too, well cooked egg, please. Anything that is tasty and adds to the omelette, well, great, perfect… but the egg should be curdled, if that’s all right. Of course, if it’s good, even for dessert…
