How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
I have been with Telefónica since June 2001, and I am delighted. It is true that it has required an enormous personal and professional effort, but it is clear to me that it has been worth it. Telefónica is a great company in all aspects: it is in a sector that is at the forefront of the technological revolution, it is a multinational that allows you to meet many very powerful managers and employees, as well as dealing with professional issues of great interest. It also allows a permanent relationship with administrations and regulators.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly satisfied with or proud of?
I couldn’t single out a specific one. Telefónica has provided a connectivity service that will allow Spanish society to address digitalization and therefore the future, and also many other digital and audiovisual services that are provided along with or separate from connectivity. Along with this, it has developed outstanding social values to leave no one behind in the digitization process of the countries in which it operates. In other words, we have fully applied our principles of responsible business in the provision of services of general interest.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
Leading the digital revolution, providing connectivity and advanced services that will allow society to take advantage of the best of technology, while maintaining our principles and our inclusive culture.
Could you live without a cell phone?
In the society we live in, it’s impossible. You would have to withdraw from everyday life.
Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelet… With onion or without onion?
With onion and, more important than that, undercooked.
