How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I’ve been at Telefónica for a year and a half, more specifically at Movistar Plus+, and although I feel that this time has flown by, I also think it’s the beginning of a long road ahead. I have learned a lot about the sector in this time, Movistar Plus+ and its team is a great school, and it is an exciting company. I am very happy and proud to work here.

Is there a project at Telefónica that you are particularly happy or proud of?

I am particularly proud of the paradigm shift we are making at Movistar Plus+ in terms of the culture of experimentation. When I joined the company, there had hardly been a single experiment. It took us a long time to get started, and initially it took several weeks, even months, to develop experiments on the interface. Recently, those times have been reduced considerably and we now have the ability to experiment and iterate much faster, allowing us to learn and act at a faster pace. This is largely due to the initiative of the Agile Personalisation team, led by Josué Igual, but also thanks to the internal cultural change in the company, where the importance of data has come to the forefront.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

Telefónica is a company with an absolutely relevant past in the history of Spain. In these 100 years, Telefónica has made it possible for a whole country to communicate, something that is absolutely powerful for the development of any country. From the point of view of Movistar Plus+, we have managed to entertain society: to make them laugh, cry with emotion, celebrate a goal, sing and dance. If Telefónica is synonymous with connecting people, Movistar Plus+ is synonymous with culture, which is the heart of a country.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

I see Telefónica celebrating another 100 years, innovating and developing technology to improve people’s quality of life. It will undoubtedly be challenging, as technology evolves faster and faster and there will be great competitors along the way, but I am sure we will succeed in our mission.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

Today, I can’t conceive of it. Technology, used well, can substantially improve people’s lives. It is true that we must make an effort to reduce compulsive or addictive use, but the mobile phone is a tool that can help us improve our quality of life.

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

With onion! And not very curdled. Doubt offends.

Nominate another colleague to appear in this section

I would like to nominate Irene Barrilero, I think she can bring a very interesting vision.

In #Thespanishomelettething tag section we interview Telefónica’s employees on a variety of topics, while trying to solve one of humanity’s greatest dilemmas.
