This week there is a relevant event gathering different stakeholders to debate on key innovative digital technologies and how to maximize competitiveness of the European technology industry. Net Futures 2016 is an innovative conference on the future of networks and, especially, the Future Internet, which will take place in Brussels this 20th and 21st of April. This edition will explore how future internet topics can best serve and benefit from the Commission’s Digital Single Market Strategy.

“Digital as a Driver for Growth” is crucial. It will allow us to discover how standards and interoperability, cloud computing, 5G, the Internet of Things, open service platforms, FIRE facilities and FIWARE technology can push the digital economy to maximum growth.
Innovative minds from Europe and beyond will be invited to speak at the conference and encourage participants into fruitful discussions and exchanges.
It will gather more than 1000 attendees, to form an interconnected community involving companies, organizations and people in research and innovation, market validation and Living Lab research, business development, entrepreneurship and enterprise strategy and policy making. By bridging the gaps between these communities, innovations will more easily and effectively find their way to the market.
Telefonica will be one of the main sponsors at the event and will participate at two sessions on the 20th and at the closing session on the 21st. We will be present in the following sessions:
- “5G vision and roadmap to key standards”, where we will review various research activities worldwide, including the launch of 20 EU projects coordinated by the 5G PPP. Governmental, industrial and academic research results are about to be reviewed and standardized through different bodies. The session will present the vision and roadmap for key standards development for 5G networks.
- “Boosting entrepreneurships through R&I” where we will review what Fiware is and the way it may serve to business. We will also learn how the Fiware Foundation will be complementary to the Open Source Community and will work to make Fiware one of the most successful stories of European Technology.
- On the 21st, our CCDO will participate at the Closing Plenary together with the European Commission representatives and other relevant speakers. This session will give the opportunity to discuss questions like: “How can the EU ensure that European businesses remain successful and can compete at global level? How can our citizens get the best services and products? How can we continue to protect consumers? And how can we help EU citizens, companies and industry get the most from innovation, new technologies and digitization?”
