How long have you been at Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I started many years ago in Telefónica R&D, among geniuses and laboratories, seeing how projects that later saw the light of day such as Aura, Connected Home, M2M… began to be developed. In the last 8 years I have been in Global B2B, working transversally with all the B2B areas of Telefónica in different projects, but also in the last 3 years I have had the opportunity to do some upskilling that has allowed me to get even closer to the business and communication teams. I think it is important that we value the fact that at Telefónica we have the capacity to reinvent ourselves, to take the best of each of us and make it grow exponentially, allowing you to grow as a professional.

Is there a project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud of or satisfied with?

I love working in Global B2B, as it allows you to get involved in projects that apply to all business units, adapting to the specific needs of the geography. And especially collaborating with the B2B Sales Academy as it is a platform that leverages the knowledge that already exists in-house to improve the sales skills of other users, beyond languages or borders. It’s the perfect connection between Telefónica employees in my opinion: learning the best from the best.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

The telephone is a 19th century invention, the first public call was made in a Barcelona research centre, and the first private call was made by Alfonso XII… each of these milestones leads us to the conclusion that communications have been and will continue to be an object of study and admiration. Telefónica has allowed us to remember not only that first call from Alfonso XII, but also the first call you made to your first boyfriend’s house (and therefore, the first time you spoke to your “in-laws”), the call that gave you your first job, the photo you sent to your grandparents with their first great-grandchild, the video calls that allowed us to stay sane during confinement? Telefónica brings memories to humanity.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

Or who can know? I was lucky enough to see the origin of futuristic projects that are now a reality, at the hands of people who are still enthusiastic about new, disruptive, creative ideas that are of great value to society. We have the capacity and pride to adapt to the environment and innovate, creating the future ourselves. Telefónica will be in the future that it (and therefore we, as employees) want to build? even in the metaverse

Could you live without a mobile phone?

Yes, I could live without a mobile phone, but not without connectivity.  The ability to communicate without limits has allowed human beings to evolve and global connectivity has completely changed the paradigm of this communication. Life is much better without obstacles. Now I can no longer make excuses for my mother to call me from the village, because she happens to have 5G coverage. And that’s wonderful.

Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

Onion yes, but please keep it out of sight. Chopped to the point of mush, so that it leaves flavour, but without knowing that it is onion. I suppose this is a childhood trauma.
