How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I have been with Telefónica for 23 years, where I started as an intern in network engineering. Throughout my career, I have gone through network traffic supervision, customer service, go to market, IT production and finally Global Partnerships.

What I value most about my experience at Telefónica is the opportunity to change roles without changing companies. If you are willing, Telefónica offers you the tools and the paths to enjoy diverse professional experiences, for example, I started in Brazil, I have worked in almost all of Latin America in global projects and I have been in Spain for almost 5 years leading Gaming projects, which is my personal passion.

In addition, I have been fortunate to have leaders and mentors in Telefónica who are my references to this day. I have also had the opportunity to lead teams made up of professionals and very special people who are part of my story, helping me to be a better person and professional.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you feel particularly satisfied with or proud of?

There are three projects in particular that make me very proud. First, the transformation of the B2B customer service model in Brazil, where we developed a totally differentiated model that increased customer NPS, reduced churn, reduced the volume of contacts in our customer service channels and improved our brand perception. Second, the launch of 4G in LATAM, where we developed the entire launch strategy for the 4G and 4G+ service, respecting the local cultures and realities of each country, making it the most relevant mobile service in the region.

And finally, my favourite, the creation of a bridge full of opportunities between the Gaming industry and the Telco sector. Personally, I believe that gaming will be the main lever for connectivity in the coming years and bringing this to Telefónica is a challenge that I love and enjoy very much.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

Working in different countries with diverse cultures and economic realities has given me the privilege of observing the global impact of Telefónica. This is a company that has democratised broadband access in many countries, bringing technology to the people. Telefónica has a focus on people and is a very human company, promoting diversity, inclusion and opportunity for all in a serious way, with real commitments and achievements.

I believe that where Telefónica intervenes, there is a revolution in the way we work, in the services we deliver to our customers and in the improvement of society, both as an employee and as a customer.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

In the future I see Telefónica far beyond telecommunications. It is a company that breathes innovation, always working on technological trends in the market to develop and distribute new solutions to its customers. Also, as a company that cares about people, it will increasingly become an attractive place for talent. Good people look for good places, and that will be fundamental to our next 100 years.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

To be very honest, today my mobile phone concentrates everything: it defines my routes to work or holidays, I pay for my meals and tickets for Real Madrid matches, I buy my videogames and, above all, it connects me with my family and friends on the other side of the Atlantic. My mobile phone is essential in my current reality.

However, I think we are right as a company in some communications where we also advise ‘disconnecting’. Although your mobile is an indispensable tool, it is important to value the moments with friends, family or enjoying a good movie or video game, away from your mobile to focus on what really matters.

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

As for the eternal question of whether with onion or without onion, for me it has never been an enigma: always with onion, because life without onion makes no sense, haha! I am an onion lover and I include it in everything, sometimes in excess, as my wife always asks me when I cook: ‘please don’t overdo it with the onion’.
