Telefónica, in collaboration with Cepei, Connectas and Social TIC, presents a free MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) devoted to Data Journalism for Sustainable Development, available in Spanish. It provides theoretical and practical tools for working on data-based stories and thus contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations for 2030.
This course is aimed at journalists, communicators, public or private entity officials and representatives of civil society, but also at people interested in follow up on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.
One of the challenges for the implementation of these SDGs is related to the availability, collection and use of data not only for its measurement and dissemination, but also to contribute to the monitoring of the global agenda for sustainable development.
In this context, mass media become catalysts for changes thanks to their role as observers of governments’ actions, as well as being responsible for bringing these issues to the public sphere and revealing the real needs of society.
“Mass media are important actors when it comes to disseminating information, so we want them to be prepare and have the necessary tools to contribute significantly to boost the Sustainable Development Goals Agenda”, said Fabián Hernández , CEO of Telefónica Movistar.
The course is part of Cepei‘s DataPeriodismo 2030 Project and is framed under the Data República initiative, a collaborative platform where civil society, academia, the public sector, the private sector and multilateral organizations can contribute to the construction of more solid data ecosystems at the local, regional and global levels.
What about you? Do you want to build stories based on data? Would you like to be a data poet? Then, do not miss this course! You only have to register on the MiríadaX platform of Telefónica Educación Digital and complete the six modules that will be taught by experts in the field.
