How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
I’ve been at Telefónica for 5 years, time flies by! As a journalist, in the area of corporate communications, I have been able to share internally and externally hundreds of projects, personal stories, alliances… in video, podcasts, augmented reality, reports, etc. Telefónica is a company where things happen all the time and we are always thinking about how to tell them in an innovative way.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?
I landed with the repositioning of Wayra. They were very intense weeks to coordinate an international action that involved many communication colleagues in Europe and Latin America. For a while I coordinated the global and digital communication of the area and met professionals who innovate from Mexico, Argentina, England, Germany, Brazil… A brand is nothing without the enthusiasm of those who form it and Telefónica is full of explorers, passionate about technology, who seek how to leave the world a little better than the day before. Today Wayra is a benchmark in corporate venturing and many companies call on Telefónica to create their open innovation areas. That enthusiasm is contagious.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society since its inception?
For me, Telefónica is a pole of social progress – from the first telephone operators to the deployment of 5G – and part of the emotional culture of a country. We all have a message that changed our lives, a call that filled us with hope, a number -that we know by heart- of a house that our loved ones no longer live in, an application that we could not live without… This network of memories and new stories unites us and drives us towards the future.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
Telefónica’s day-to-day is already marked by Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, the Internet of Things, Blockchain technology… I am sure that wherever there is an opportunity to innovate, to connect, Telefónica will be there.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
I would find it very difficult, I admit. It has allowed us new ways of working, of enjoying our leisure time, making video calls with our family and friends far away…
Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
Team onion! Besides, part of my family is Galician, so I like it lightly curdled. What a delight!
