How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

Just a few weeks ago I celebrated 25 years. It has been practically my only job and my only ‘love’. I have learned everything I know about communications at Telefónica. I have had wonderful bosses and brilliant colleagues, I have seen first-hand the transformation of the company and I have had the privilege of being able to tell the story. I am very fortunate and the luckiest person in the world.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?

Well, we are so close to it that it is inevitable to talk about the Centenary and all that it has brought with it – and what’s still to come, we still have events going on! It is something for which I will always be proud and grateful, an unforgettable year. But before that I had also experienced unique moments, because they were intense and challenging, such as the communication of Wannacry in the spring of 2017, or because they signified a paradigm shift that ushered in a new time, such as the launch of Movistar Fusión in September 2011. These are just two of the many, many moments I could highlight. Communication is a fast-paced activity.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

If there is one company that has contributed to accelerating progress in Spain, it is Telefónica. In preparing for the Centenary we have been able to talk to many people, read many papers, learn endlessly about the history of this company… and it is amazing to see how this DNA of innovating, exploring, daring and committing has been in Telefónica from the very beginning. It is a company that has accompanied us and continues to do so, that is in the lives of families, of businesses, that keeps us close even when we are far away.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

I see it among the best, leading change and anticipating the needs of people and companies. It will continue to be the leading company that it is… and it will also continue to be the only one with deployments where nobody wants to do them and the only one that continues to pay attention to the least profitable areas. In other words, as always: Leading without leaving anyone behind.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

Noooo, no way. I suffer from a terrible addiction. I’m hooked to messages from my girls, my friends, my husband, my mother… to social networks, memes, email, Teams and Apalabrados, the Zara app, the diary, checking the weather, using the alarm clock, Maps, alarms, voice notes… How can I live without a mobile phone?

Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

With, with. And with good bread. And a beer, please.

Ufff… how difficult. I nominate my colleagues from one of the most challenging projects of the Centenary: IRATXE CABRALES, MARIA TERESA ROMERO DE ÁVILA and SANDRA ABELLEIRA.

In #Thespanishomelettething tag section we interview Telefónica’s employees on a variety of topics, while trying to solve one of humanity’s greatest dilemmas.
