In 2024 I will be 17 years here. It sounds fast, but it is impressive how much has happened in this time. It has been a journey through different latitudes: I started in Venezuela, then I went to Brazil, and now I have been here in Madrid for almost 8 years.

They have been years of constant growth, full of unique experiences, challenging projects and the privilege of working with great colleagues from different parts of the world. For me, I am proud to be part of Telefónica, and I will always remember a phrase I once read: ‘once a phone call, always a phone call’.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?

It’s difficult to choose just one! All my experience has been focused on B2B, and I love it because we design solutions for our customers to improve the lives of their own customers. In smartcity projects in Latin America, I was involved in solutions such as smart parking and smart lighting, which really impacted the day-to-day lives of citizens.

Then, I worked on projects that helped our teams to better serve their B2B customers, with the adoption of the role of sales specialists in countries such as Mexico and Ecuador, and improving the use of tools so that they were more than just for reporting, such as Salesforce applied to business intelligence in Spain and Brazil, or the use of artificial intelligence to optimise the process of preparing offers in Spain.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

I think it has contributed a lot! From something as basic as connectivity, which is fundamental, but after covid it became essential, not only to keep in touch with our loved ones, but also so that our B2B customers could continue to operate in all sectors, especially in critical ones such as health, education and food.

Now, with the advent of AI, we will undoubtedly continue to help society stay connected and work generating value from anywhere, but this time in an even more efficient way.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

Always at the forefront of technology and helping us to be better. Coming from other parts of the world, I value being connected, especially when technology allows us to feel closer to our loved ones. Innovative solutions bring us closer in ways that were not possible before, and every technological advance is a new opportunity to keep us together, even if we are miles apart. Before it was analogue calls, today video calls, tomorrow what will it be?

Could you live without a mobile phone?

I think it is now impossible to live without a mobile phone, some people even have two! I feel that it has become part of our DNA, and even more so now that we can pay with it and carry everything on it. Maybe the question we should be asking ourselves is: when will we have a mobile phone that doesn’t need to be charged?

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

It’s a difficult question, especially for me, as I’m not from here, but if I have to choose, I’d say ‘without’ onion. Although, of course, if I’m invited to one ‘with’ onion, I’ll eat it anyway, because a pincho de tortilla is a pincho de tortilla. You can’t refuse!

What crazy idea would you like Telefónica to do for its centenary?

An in-person party where we can meet all the employees of the group! With simultaneous events in all the countries where we are present and a big photo of all of us to capture the moment.

I nominate Daniela Muñoz Román, Julia Suarez Luna, Jorge Duque Peláez, Andrea Zapata Soto, Raúl Salvago and Rosany Silva Gamboa.

In #Thespanishomelettething tag section we interview Telefónica’s employees on a variety of topics, while trying to solve one of humanity’s greatest dilemmas.
