How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
I joined the Telefónica team just two years ago. But my history with Telefónica began in 2016 when I worked at the Fundación Universidad Empresa and supported the People teams with employer branding campaigns to attract young talent through the Talentum internship programme. My assessment of Telefónica is quite positive, I feel really proud to be part of a company that incorporates sustainability criteria into its business strategy.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly satisfied with or proud of?
I am really proud to be able to apply my expertise and marketing knowledge to sustainability issues. We have managed to position ESG content on the web to facilitate searches and improve our ratings in specialised rankings, thanks to the ESG Library. It is also impossible not to mention the sustainability report, which is a reflection of the Company’s commitment and progress in sustainability and shows the teamwork of many areas and many professionals.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?
Connecting people, eliminating the digital divide not only with connectivity but also by strengthening the capabilities of those who need it, so that no one is left behind.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
Telefónica has a crucial role to play not only in connecting people’s lives, but also in helping to decarbonise the economy, through connectivity solutions and Eco Smart products and services, which also generate business, increasing the company’s value proposition.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
I can’t imagine my life without a mobile phone. I am Mexican by birth, Madrid by adoption, but my entire family and friends live more than 9,000 kilometres away, and if I didn’t have a mobile phone I don’t think I could live so far away. Having a mobile phone with internet makes you not feel so far from home.
Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
Always with onion and with a spicy sauce it tastes much better. I’ll let you in on a secret, my favourite is the one at Restaurante la Primera, on Gran Vía in Madrid.
