How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
Well, in January I’ll be celebrating my second year at Telefónica. The first year I was able to get to know and learn the ins and outs of Institutional Relations at Telefónica Spain and since then I have been part of the Digital Public Policy team at Telefónica S.A. During my time at Telefónica, I have had the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. The culture fosters innovation and development, which has allowed me to expand my skills and contribute significantly to the projects in which I participate. The collaboration between teams, the positive and productive work environment is something I loved from the moment I joined. For all these reasons, I am very grateful for the opportunities this company has given me and for the growth I experience here every day.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?
Yes, of course! I am very proud to have been part of the new initiative promoted by Digital Public Policies called Telefónica Policy Lab. Telefónica Policy Lab is a think tank that seeks to reinvent the way in which digital public policy issues are addressed. A meeting point where experts and prominent people from the public and private sectors, academia and civil society exchange opinions and experiences on the main issues that will shape the course of the digital era. Advances in public policy come about thanks to dialogue and active collaboration between all the actors involved.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?
In my opinion, Telefónica has had a significant impact on society on several fronts.
It has contributed to global connectivity, bringing telecommunications services to remote areas, improving accessibility to information and communication for millions of people around the world. In addition, its focus on technological innovation has driven advances in telecommunications, from infrastructure development to innovative digital solutions. It has also played a key role in promoting digital inclusion and technology education, enabling more people to access resources and opportunities in the digital world.
Importantly, it has demonstrated a remarkable commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), implementing initiatives that reduce its environmental footprint, committing to renewable energy, and setting ambitious targets to reduce its environmental impact.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
In the future, I think Telefónica could continue to evolve towards a more integral role in digital transformation. They could expand their presence in emerging areas such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence or 5G connectivity, offering innovative solutions for businesses and consumers. In addition, I believe they could strengthen their focus on sustainability, moving towards more sustainable practices and further contributing to digital inclusion in underserved communities. Telefónica could also consolidate strategic alliances and collaborations with innovative companies to remain a key player in the technology landscape. In summary, I think the keys will be to diversify its services, adapt to changing market demands and maintain its commitment to innovation and corporate social responsibility.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
That would be a challenge! My world revolves around communication and information exchange, so not having a mobile phone would make my life quite difficult. Plus, it’s so ingrained in our lives both at work and in our personal lives that it would be hard to get used to. That said, of course, there are always ways to adapt, even if they are challenging!
Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
Always with onion! And even more so if it’s poached.
