How long have you been at Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
I have been here since 2010, I joined TIWS (Telefónica International Wholesale Services/TGS) to cover a maternity leave and in 2016 I was given the great opportunity to join the TELXIUS family.
I came from a large company, but it was at Telefónica where I realised what a large company in constant evolution and development is. These years have given me a greater professional development by working in different areas of the business, enjoying teamwork and having a vision of Telefónica as a global company.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly satisfied with or proud of?
On a professional level, I am proud to have been part of all the teams, to be able to support/assist them and give support to the managers of these teams, managers whom I admire enormously for their intelligence and work capacity.
The Telefónica project that I feel most satisfied with on a personal level was during my time in confinement, having been able to help the Telefónica Foundation in its work of daily telephone support to retired colleagues, sharing their experiences, getting to know the history of this great family through them, their concerns, their feelings…..
That opportunity made me realise how many people are alone, that they shared their experiences with me and that I was able to do my bit in those times… so communicated… but so alone… it is an experience that I will take with me forever. I still have contact with some of them and I am still waiting for visits to meet them personally.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?
It has connected people, it has allowed them to communicate with audiovisual media. For example, my grandparents got to know the analogue world, and if we had told them about all these advances, they would have thought I wasn’t right in the head. Although it is true… nothing will ever beat a personal relationship, a hug, with physical and visual contact. In the development and evolution of different communication systems, the group’s work has undoubtedly contributed to social and economic growth.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
If we can dream, continuing to be at the technological forefront of interplanetary communications. And, with its feet on the ground, it will continue to be a benchmark in the leadership of large telecommunications companies for 100 more years.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
No, in the society we live in, the world we live in today and the world we are heading towards, that implies its necessity and dependence, which does not mean having the moments of disconnection from it that are as necessary as they are beneficial.
Help us to solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
With onion, without a doubt. But if there is no other choice… WITHOUT. Few smells so delicious, comforting and recognisable coming out of the kitchen…such a simple and great recipe. It is a very Spanish hallmark.
