Silvia Palacín

How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I started working in June 2000 at Telefónica DataCorp as an ETT and a year later I was made a member of staff, which was a joy and satisfaction to be part of a CIA with the prestige of Telefónica. In these almost 24 years there have been many satisfactions and I have learnt a lot from the different bosses and colleagues with whom I have worked and continue to work. We are a big family.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you feel particularly satisfied with or proud of?

All those in which my bosses have been involved in the different Group companies in which I have worked, but especially LUCA: I joined when it had already been running for two months, but I feel part of it and that I have been able to contribute something with the help given to Elena, Carlos, Fernando, Phil, José Luis, etc. …., my colleagues Paloma, Paz, Mayte.

What do you expect from the company’s Centenary in 2024?

Well, I suppose, like everyone else, many surprises. It is an honour to work in a company that is reaching its centenary and that has done so many good things for society.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society in these almost 100 years?

Telefónica is a company that has been able to reinvent itself over these 100 years, opening the way in other countries and becoming the multinational that we are today. Helping people with the Telefónica Foundation.

Where do you see Telefónica in the next 100 years?

Telefónica has an exciting history of constant transformation and has reached the present day because it has been able to transform itself, always ahead of its time and with a clear mission: to provide service and be of use to society, so it will continue to grow in the future.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

No, it is an extension of my arm.

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

To each his own, but in my case WITH. Spongy and with that sweet touch that onion has when fried.

To my mentor, M.ª Ángeles Montoro Castillejo, my dear colleagues Anabel Sánchez-Rico, Mariló Castillo de la Higuera, Mónica Martínez Quero and Elena Díaz Sánchez and my dear colleagues Javier Sanz Flores, Héctor Bahía Aguilar and Marco Antonio Otero. Magnificent people and great professionals whom I am very fond of.

In #Thespanishomelettething tag section we interview Telefónica’s employees on a variety of topics, while trying to solve one of humanity’s greatest dilemmas.
