How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?

I started my career as an intern (or trainee as they call it in Venezuela) in 2016, my entire professional career has been developed within the Telefónica group, as I said initially in Venezuela after the internship period in the Operations area, I was working in the Operational Quality area and later in the Energy Planning and Engineering area, from 2017 I belong to the corporate team within GCTIO based in Madrid, Spain, within the Energy Efficiency team.

Is there any project at Telefónica that you feel particularly satisfied with?

During these 18 years at Telefónica, I have had the opportunity to work on many projects that I am proud of. In Venezuela, I would like to highlight two in particular. The first was at the beginning of the country’s energy crisis, when we developed energy management KPIs to measure the impact of service failures, which allowed us to identify opportunities for improvement and draw up a work plan. The second was the implementation of a real-time monitoring and measurement system for electricity consumption in Venezuela’s main power plants (MTSOs).

In the corporate team, I would highlight the materialisation of a disruptive model called Energy Savings as a Service (ESaaS), which allows us to implement energy efficiency projects in different operators of the group. This model reduces our energy consumption without financial impact, as the supplier implements the project and is paid through the savings generated.
Overall, I am very satisfied to work in the area of energy efficiency. In addition to helping the company meet its objectives, I contribute to minimising the impact of greenhouse gas emissions and helping the planet.

What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?

What we have contributed to society fulfils our mission ‘We want to make our world more human, connecting people’s lives’. This has been possible thanks to the deployment of state-of-the-art equipment in both the fixed and mobile networks. I am especially proud to say that the deployment of communications networks in rural areas has had a positive impact on their communication, education, development and economy.

Where do you see Telefónica in the future?

I see Telefónica being a pioneer in technology and innovation, leading in energy efficiency and sustainability.
I am convinced that our contributions are aimed at achieving a better future for all.

Could you live without a mobile phone?

I could not live without my mobile phone, as it has become an essential tool to keep me close to my family, who are spread across many countries. Although I can disconnect from time to time without a problem, I value the connection it allows me to have with my loved ones.
I also recognise the importance of disconnecting when necessary to spend quality time with family.

Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?

I am a food lover, and the potato omelette is a new tradition that I have happily incorporated into my life. As for the eternal question of with onion or without onion, I definitely prefer the omelette with onion. I also love experimenting with other flavours, such as black pudding, brie cheese, tomato, peppers, among others.
