How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
I have been working at Telefónica for 182 months. I have never worked anywhere else and I consider myself a real “Telefónica lover”. In Santiago de Chile, I began to understand the importance of connectivity and technology in our society. In São Paulo, I learned about the diversity of the Latin American market and the need for constant innovation. In Madrid, I was able to deepen my understanding of Telefónica’s corporate culture and participate in strategic projects that have a global impact.
I have had the opportunity to learn and grow in a dynamic and challenging environment, surrounded by an incredibly talented and committed team. Telefónica has not only given me job stability, but also the possibility to develop in different contexts and contribute to innovative projects that have a positive impact on society. I am proud to be part of this great family and all that we have achieved together.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?
I have been involved in many significant projects throughout my career at Telefónica, but the one that has marked me most recently is the Living Apps project.
During confinement, television became an essential resource for families, and Telefónica took this opportunity to transform the reality of the living room with Living Apps on the Movistar+ platform in Spain and Vivo Play in Brazil.
These apps offer entertainment, education, health and more. Seeing how our technology has improved the way people watch TV has been incredibly rewarding. Working on this project and collaborating with international teams has been an enriching experience and a source of great pride for me.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?
Of course it has! Telefónica has contributed significantly to society, especially during the pandemic and in situations of natural disasters in Latin America, such as earthquakes and floods, and I am a witness to this. It has provided essential connectivity, enabling people to stay connected and access critical information. During these events, Telefónica has led initiatives to ensure continuity of service, facilitate teleworking, distance learning and telemedicine. It has also shown a strong commitment to social responsibility.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
I see Telefónica playing a crucial role in creating a more connected, innovative and equitable world, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Its natural evolution will include a prominent focus on artificial intelligence, applying it to improve efficiency and create new opportunities for society. It will continue to expand its connectivity infrastructure, enabling more people and businesses to benefit from digitalisation. In addition, I firmly believe it will intensify its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, leading initiatives to bridge the digital divide and promote sustainable development.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
No, I could not live without a mobile phone. When I forget my mobile phone, I feel like I’m missing something indispensable. My family lives far away, and the mobile phone is crucial to keep in touch and share important moments. I do almost everything with my mobile phone, from working to managing my daily activities. My mobile has become an essential part of my life and, in many ways, an extension of myself.
Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
Good question, but I have a very rare allergy: unfortunately, I am allergic to potatoes. However, I know this is a very passionate debate. Many people say that the potato omelette with onion has a sweeter and juicier taste, while others prefer the simplicity of the omelette without onion. Although I can’t taste them, I enjoy watching people passionately defend their culinary preferences.
