How long have you been at Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
Last June it was 28 years since I first came to work at the Telefónica Móviles España offices in the Fuencarral industrial estate. How do I assess it? Working at Telefónica is one of those things that has had an essential influence on my personal, family and professional life, making it what it has been and what it is today. I can only feel fortunate and grateful!
Is there any project at Telefónica that you are particularly proud or satisfied with?
There are many projects (both large and small) that give me great satisfaction to remember. But if I feel particularly satisfied with anything, even more than with the things we have done, it is how we do things day after day. I am left with the ethical standard within which our decisions and their execution are developed, and the quality of human relations in our ‘house’.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?
We are, without a doubt, a relevant player in the societies in which we are present. From many points of view. We are inside the homes of millions of citizens, and we even accompany them everywhere and at all hours of the day and night, ensuring their mobile connectivity. But we are also so well known that we have become a benchmark of behaviour that identifies large companies and Spanish companies. What a great responsibility!
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
One of the big telcos of European origin and international presence.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
Sure I could live without a mobile phone … but worse.
Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
Definitely with onions!
