How long have you been with Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
I joined the Telefónica family on 14 February 2000 at the now defunct Telefonica Data, coincidentally, that same year my father took early retirement from Telefonica de España, so I continued the saga of the family’s telephonic family, which I have always been very proud of.
Telefónica has helped me to grow both personally and professionally, I have always been in departments related to the deployment of the network, being part of the evolution of technology and surrounded by great professionals from whom you never stop learning.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you feel particularly satisfied with or proud of?
I have participated in many projects to deploy the equipment on which Telefónica’s services are based, starting with the first routers where the ADSL service was configured, which will come to an end next year with the copper switch-off. But what I am especially proud of is to see what has become today the “Core of the NGN (Next Negeration Network)”, what began in 2006 as a small pilot, is today the real “heart” of the network capable of managing all the fixed and mobile voice services that we provide to our residential and business customers, to which I have contributed my small grain of sand.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?
The Information Society as we know it today in Spain cannot be understood without the presence of Telefónica. We are always working to provide and develop the best services for our customers and we are at the forefront of technology. In the world of telecommunications, it is safe to say that if there is a service that Telefónica does not provide, it does not “exist”.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
I see a very promising future for Telefónica. Those of us who are active and the new colleagues who are joining us will continue to work to make people’s lives easier, developing new services, incorporating new technologies and being increasingly sustainable and respectful of our environment.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
If I am honest, I think today I would find it very difficult to live my current lifestyle without my mobile phone, the mobile phone is a facilitator of many services that would be very difficult to do without and as I said before it makes your life much easier. It is clear that if you want to be connected to society, it is essential to have a mobile phone.
Help us solve one of the great enigmas of humanity: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
Personally I prefer the potato omelette with onion, but I am no “Taliban”, I believe that the important thing for a good potato omelette is to use quality ingredients, good olive oil, real free-range eggs, a quality potato, a little onion well poached and salt. When it comes to cooking it, neither too curdled, nor too little, in the middle ground is the virtue.
Nominate another colleague to appear in this section
