La Vuelta 2024 will be decided after a 24-kilometre individual time trial between Distrito Telefónica, in the north of the city of Madrid, and the operator’s emblematic building in the central Gran Vía on Sunday 8 September, on the last and final day of the prestigious cycling race.

The so-called ‘Telefónica Stage’ is one more of the many unforgettable moments with which the company is celebrating its Centenary throughout the year 2024.

Last stage of La Vuelta: timetables in Telefónica District

Although the cyclists will start to set off one by one from 16:20 from the lake where ‘Iris’ presides over Telefónica’s corporate headquarters, it will be breathing cycling all day long.

From 11:00 the different teams will begin to arrive in the District and set up their training areas in preparation for this decisive day in which the winner of the 2024 edition of the Spanish round will be known.

Although these are limited training areas, those who attend the start will be able to enjoy the riders’ preparations at close quarters.

A little later, at 14:00, the official circuit will be opened for the riders to reconnoitre the route before the official start of the competition.

As mentioned above, the first start of the time trial will take place at 16:20 and the last start at 19:00.

What to do in the Telefónica District

Available next to the LEGO replica of the Gran Vía headquarters, located in front of the stairs leading to the metro stop, you can leave messages of support for the cyclists on a ‘signature wall’.

A commemorative cap for this Telefónica Stage will be available next to the wall, available while stocks last. In addition, those who upload a photo of themselves wearing the cap on social networks will be able to participate in a prize draw for a Movistar Team bicycle. Instructions on how to participate in the draw will be provided with the cap.

Likewise, the BMX acrobatic exhibitions, together with other promotional actions of La Vuelta, will liven up an unforgettable day with which Telefónica celebrates its first hundred years of life in one of the environments to which it has been committed for decades, the world of sport.

How to get to Distrito Telefónica for the final stage of La Vuelta 2024

We recommend avoiding private vehicles, as part of the streets surrounding the Telefónica District will be closed, and it will not be possible to park on the perimeter of the corporate headquarters or to access its car parks.

We remind you that, for example, the Ronda de la Comunicación stop on Metro line 10 is located in the Telefónica District.

Commemoration of Telefónica’s Centenary: from headquarters to headquarters

The cyclists will complete a route that is the exact opposite of that of Telefónica, which has gone from having its headquarters on Gran Vía to being located in Distrito.

The company was founded in 1924 and at the end of the 1920s saw the building in the centre of Madrid become a fundamental part of the city’s architecture and urban landscape with its height of more than 90 metres, making it the tallest building in Europe at the end of its construction and for a quarter of a century the tallest in the capital.

Decades later, in the 2000s, the company moved to a 168,000 m2 site comprising a group of 15 glass-fronted buildings with large green areas, which at the time was called Distrito C and later changed its name to Distrito Telefónica and was inaugurated in 2008.
