Between the next 5th and the 8th of September, Fundación Telefónica with other partners will host the 25th Telecommunications Congress, which on this occasion will be held under the slogan “Más allá de lo conseguido” (“Beyond Our Achievements”). It will be held, as every year, in the wonderful and historical Magdalena Palace, in Santander.

The event will start on Monday 5 at 10:00 am with presentations by Vice-Chancellor of the UIMP (Menéndez Pelayo International University), Salvador Ordóñez; Chief Operating Officer of Telefónica, Julio Linares, who will talk about “Digital Progress”; President of the AETIC (Association of Electronics, Information Technology and Telecommunications), Jesús Banegas, who will discourse on “The Next Itinerary”; and Chairman of IBM Spain, Juan Antonio Zufiria, who will take the floor to reflect on “New Times, New Challenges”.

The Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Miguel Sebastián, will take the floor on 6 September, at 12:00 pm, followed at 4.30 pm by the chairman of Telefónica Latin America, José María Álvarez-Pallete, with his presentation on “Technology and Innovation: the Keys for Leadership in Latin America”.

On Thursday 8 September at 1:00 pm the closing sessions will be joined by Secretary of State for Telecommunications and the Information Society, Juan Junquera.

Some of the main issues discussed will be the new challenges that the industry faces, the new investor cycle, regulation challenges in a digital society, the new technological frontiers and new opportunities, the global and local development of ecosystems, cooperation and learning with the customer, mobile Internet after 2011, the emerging digital economy, the creation of value in the network society, the economic and social impact of the Internet, etc.

This is a relevant event in Spain as it marks the end of the Summer and the trends in the telecomm sector for the next months!
