How long have you been at Telefónica and what is your assessment of your time here?
I joined Telefónica Soluciones in the last year of my university studies with a scholarship, then I was subcontracted, I went to other companies and finally I returned to Telefónica and joined the company in 2007. So, my whole professional life (except for a few dabbles in other companies) has been at Telefónica.
My assessment of all this time can only be good, otherwise I would not have returned when I was in other companies, nor would I still be here.
I think that, although this company is a big elephant that is sometimes difficult to move, it never stops progressing, moving forward and giving all of us employees the opportunity to reinvent ourselves and continue to grow with it.
Is there any project at Telefónica that you feel particularly satisfied with or proud of?
I know it is not right to say ‘all’, and perhaps some have been more enriching than others, but I feel satisfied and proud of all those in which I have participated, even those in which the result has not been as expected, because they have given me the opportunity to improve and continue learning. I have been lucky enough to always have great colleagues and leaders who have allowed me to make mistakes and evolve with them.
What do you think Telefónica has contributed to society?
Apart from what I think is obvious, communications and thus the ability to stay connected. Telefónica is an important part of this country’s progress and, thanks to that, of people’s well-being. It is present in many basic sectors of society, such as health, education, etc., providing and facilitating technology at the service of citizens.
Where do you see Telefónica in the future?
It is difficult to say. We live in a very changing world, full of uncertainty. Even so, I do believe that it will remain true to its values and in some way will continue to play a key role in our lives, accompanying and making technology available to everyone and playing a key role in the progress of this country.
Could you live without a mobile phone?
I could, but I don’t want to. The mobile phone, technology in general, is an advance in humanity and as such I don’t want to do without it. I don’t want to do without anything that makes my life easier. Would you consider not taking medicine when you have a headache, because I wouldn’t consider living without technology in general.
Help us solve one of humanity’s great enigmas: the potato omelette… With onion or without onion?
Why choose, in general I eat it without onion, because that’s the way it’s eaten in my environment. Although if it’s with onion, it’s perfect too. The omelette (it doesn’t matter how) is more than an enigma, it’s an essential part of humanity.
