As it is a process that is carried out in a homogeneous and transversal way in the company, we can mention that it can be a quite dynamic work and if you propose it, it can even be fun! The days at Telefónica are very productive, you have the opportunity to make progress on projects, carry out your day-to-day activities, take training, etc.
My start of the day
On Home Office days, I start the day by getting up a few hours earlier than my working day, I do some stretching to wake up better, breathing exercises allow a much more relaxed transition from waking up to getting ready for your activities.
After that, I prepare a drink to get me going, it can be a coffee, a tea or a glass of water, it depends on the craving of the day. Personally, I consider that the best thing about having a routine is to take care of it, to have rituals to prepare yourself for the day, so I like to write some phrases of gratitude to strengthen my attitude for the day, I highly recommend them if you have a similar routine, I share with you my favourite one: I have everything I need to make today a great day.
Then, I turn on the computer with all the attitude and review my list of activities, I try to leave the list of activities for the following days, I start working in blocks of hours, to be much more productive and practical. Within those blocks of hours, I try to allocate one for reviewing the agenda and answering emails.
My tools
My main tools are undoubtedly Teams and Outlook, because Risk is an area that requires constant communication with our managers in each of the areas, and the second one we use the most is Excel, which requires cross-referencing information, data analysis, specifically. One of the most entertaining things we do within the area is the Risk Observatory and Analysis, as local functions, we have the mission to investigate the external context in our region and our country, we learn a lot doing this research, from climate change, economic and political environment issues, as well as the status of the telco sector.
My favourite moment of the day
I have many favourite moments, but I will talk about the three main ones:
- Operational talks and meetings, when we have progress meetings and also take the opportunity to genuinely get to know our colleagues or superiors in terms of activities, ask how they are doing, how the weekend went, and so on. At the same time, we can comment on the issues we are working on, get to know the status and feel fortunate to be in a great team like Internal Audit.
- The check on the list of upcoming activities, this moment even has a scientific basis. Who doesn’t feel a great satisfaction when crossing that activity off the to-do list? It’s amazing! Another one of my favourite moments.
When I get to know new roles and tasks in other areas, every company is a world and without a doubt, Telefónica is extremely interesting, as I said, in Risks there is the opportunity to get to know from the area of Communication, such as Technology, People, Finance, etc., and it is wonderful to know the work that other people do and how that makes us as a company work as a team.
My favourite tips for getting organised
On a day like the one we surely have a lot of phone calls, it is very important to find the best methods for organisation, although it depends a lot on each person, the pace of work, the activities you do, above all. That’s why I’m going to share some tips with you:
- Get to know yourself and your way of working, on many occasions, we look for thousands of tips to get organised, whether it’s the agenda, the alarms, the application that gives us warnings, the app that blocks social networks, the list of activities, the many methods of proactivity. There are many tools to get organised, but it is like having a table full of desserts and not knowing exactly which one you want to try. Before falling in love with any type of organisation, you must know yourself very well and know the way you work, allow yourself not only to know about organisation but also to know how to adapt and put into practice what works best for you.
- Structure is the best ally, it is very important to work with structure, whether you have a list of activities to do, have an Excel with the tracking of your responsibilities or keep an agenda. In my case, I try to allocate blocks of hours to specific activities, so I have a range of time I have to take for each activity and strengthen my practicality. On the other hand, I usually leave planned by week or by day what I am going to work on, so I have a better clarity of what I have to do in my day to day, I have more in mind the deadlines and so on.
I say goodbye and I hope you join me in making a count of your day and analyse what methods of organisation you use and share them if they are effective. Enjoy your day to day!
