Artificial Intelligence (AI), a potential without limits

The combination of Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things (IoT) will allow companies to have “very powerful” solutions, say the experts.

AI

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been installed in our lives for years, taking giant steps in our daily lives, whether at home or in the company, a situation that in the coming years, tends to multiply, especially when combined with other technologies such as the “internet of things”, “machine learning” or the robotic automation of many processes.

In a recent study conducted by the Institute of Digital Economy of the ESIC business school, a group of more than a hundred experts tried to identify the main trends and innovations that may emerge over the next few years in relation to artificial intelligence.

Support for businesses and professionals

ICEMD Innovation Series was created with the aim of being an annual reference document that helps companies and professionals in the sector, through innovation, to respond to the problems, needs and challenges they face in each area of the value chain.

This study identifies the professional profiles that exist in the market and are in demand by companies, as well as the specific competences and skills that professionals working in the field of artificial intelligence should acquire.

Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, consumer and business trends were already shifting towards the adoption of artificial intelligence, as evidenced by the fact that many companies already had robotic automation processes in place, but also that the integration of these processes with artificial intelligence can take task control “to another level.”

Threats to cybersecurity

Other issues highlighted in the Digital Economy Institute’s work reflect the growth of cybersecurity threats and the growing problem of personal data exposure and phishing (impersonation of a public body or a banking institution), but also how artificial intelligence can help prevent or reduce such crimes by detecting fake digital transactions and activities.

As a reflection of this revolution, they cite some examples already known to all, such as the case of digital assistants, like Siri or Alexa, already common in many homes, and which do not cease to represent this new relationship between people and robots, whose present is only a beginning, compared to what is expected in the near future, whose growth and extension to the world of work and industry has no limits, with an improvement in workflows, is considered in this study.

AI as part of a corporate strategy

The fields in which artificial intelligence (AI) is developing and will develop know no limits. One of them is its application in the field of corporate strategy, i.e., in recruitment and human resources, in e-commerce or in supply chains.

In this regard, experts cite as examples how some technological giants have revolutionised the way they transport goods.

Furthermore, this report highlights the different AI applications available that help in simple, everyday tasks, but also the crucial involvement of humans in them, due to their high level of ethical awareness.

They refer to cases such as robots helping disabled people to eat, assisting elderly or disabled people to walk, or administering medication, for which they consider it “vital that humans provide the ethical and empathetic components that a robot alone cannot offer”.

Another of the highlights of this study refers to a directory of more artificial intelligence-based tools, which have been selected by the experts participating in this report, with the aim of boosting business innovation in numerous fields, from productivity to legal services.

Artificial Intelligence in the industrial sector

An example of this is the possibilities offered by Artificial Intelligence applied to the industrial sector. This is the case of the proposals that Telefónica Tech presented at the last world fair on innovation and Industry 4.0, Advanced Factories 2022, a congress held in Barcelona.

Specifically, Telefónica Tech’s contribution was based on three sections such as that the application of Artificial Intelligence makes predictive maintenance of industrial assets possible, as well as improving the reliability of processes and predicting demand in the sector

In addition, he stressed the need for robust cybersecurity measures, which is very necessary in all these processes.

Star of Telefonica’s first Twitch stream

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the star of Telefónica’s next (and first) Twitch live stream. It will take place on 26 May 2022 at 5 pm (Spanish time) and will be held from the official account of the group, where Pablo Gómez, a promising young specialist in AI, will tell us how he has experienced the rise of this subject and what motivated him to study it in depth at Campus 42, Telefónica’s school of innovation and digital talent.

Some of the topics to be discussed during this broadcast are the ethical aspects surrounding this type of Intelligence, how it has come to us and who its precursors were. In addition, online opinion forums will be opened on what limits this type of technology should or should not pass.
