Most relevant technology trends of 2024

In the midst of the daily maelstrom, it is often difficult to identify the main technological trends and their relevance.

We can make excuses for the speed with which these issues arise and change, but I personally believe that this is the constant: change and speed.

This challenges us to constantly interact and learn, to find the space to devote our attention to it, to understand what the most salient issues are, how they impact us now and in the future, and to consciously integrate them in order to optimise their value.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

AI will become even more integrated into our lives, from intelligent applications that optimise everyday tasks to advanced robotics and automated decision making.

By 2024, generative AI is expected to boom, capable of creating creative content such as text, images and videos, with a huge impact in a variety of areas.

Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR)

The integration of these technologies will intensify, especially in sectors such as health, education, manufacturing and entertainment.

Further miniaturisation and portability of devices is expected, making them more accessible and convenient.

Cloud computing

Cloud adoption will continue to grow, driven by the need for greater flexibility, scalability and security in data and infrastructure management.

AI Trust, Risk and Security Management (AI TRiSM)

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more pervasive, managing trust, risk and security in AI applications will be crucial to protect data and ensure its ethical use.

Data security and privacy will become critical, with the development of solutions to protect information in IoT environments.

Regulatory frameworks and tools will be developed to ensure the ethical and responsible use of new technologies.

Technological sustainability

Awareness of the environmental impact of technology will grow, driving the development of more sustainable solutions. We will see advances in green energy technologies and green computing.

As I said at the beginning, it is very important to keep in mind that this landscape is dynamic and can change rapidly. Researching and reflecting on these developments allows us to make more strategic use decisions on a personal and professional level.

The debate

A few days ago, I took a course on AI, and a phrase that the teacher said to us, stayed with me: ‘Creativity is born from the human being. AIs can generate, assist the being in that task, they do not replace it’.

Those words opened a necessary debate, to think about our future, where we are going and I think it is an exercise that should be done regularly. It helps us to break with myths and preconceptions, to learn and to grow.

What do you think about this, would you add any trend to this list?
