The Integrated Telefónica Accessibilty Plan (www.telefonica.es/accesible
), represents our corporate commitment to those among us who suffer from some type of disability. It is a project that includes actions of communication, training, increasing awareness, product and service development, innovation and integration in the workplace targeting this group as customers, employees, shareholders, suppliers and members of our society in general.
The objective of the project is to make Telefónica a fully accessible company with respect to all of its processes and to actively contribute towards the full equality of opportunities for those among us who suffer from some type of disability.
Accessibility Criteria
On that score, the Integrated Telefónica, S.A. Plan sets out to adapt the contents of the www.telefonica.com
website in order to ensure that everybody, irrespective of disability, age, or the technology they are using, can have universal access to each and every one of its contents without experiencing access difficulties. At the same time, Telefónica S.A. is incorporating the provisions stipulated in the Spanish Information Society and Electronic Business Services Act LEY 56/2007, de 28 de diciembre, de Medidas de Impulso de la Sociedad de la Información (PDF, 528 KB)
.
In order to achieve this, the accessibility criteria imply compliance with the double-A level 1.0 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) established by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium), an international association made up of different organisations, both public and private, that work together to develop standards aimed at the encouragement and diffusion of good website development practices.
The Plan also adopts the current regulations in force in Spain in this regard: UNE Standard 139803:2004 "IT Applications for the Disabled: Accessibility Requirements for Website Contents" (Norma UNE 139803:2004 "Aplicaciones informáticas para personas con discapacidad: Requisitos de accesibilidad para contenidos en la Web"
).
All the webpages, from the most recent to the oldest, are being rigorously adapted in order to eventually achieve a website containing the greatest possible number of accessible documents.
Some of the functionalities incorporated into www.telefonica.es in order to make it easier to access all the contents of the website are:
Technosite
, a company belonging to the Fundosa Group (Fundación ONCE) has been commissioned to collaborate with Telefónica in the design of a fully accessible website.
This involves Technosite awarding the Euracert certification stamp (www.euracert.org
) to those sections of the website that pass the audit and certification procedure.
This certification means that, for at least the next two years, Telefónica S.A. is committed to ensure that its website maintains the level of accessibility achieved at the time the certificate is issued. The Euracert seal is the result of all the coordination work carried out on a Europe-wide level by organisations specialised in Website Accessibility, including Technosite, and with the support of the European Commission.
In order to obtain the Euracert seal, the level of accessibility of the www.telefónica.com
website has to be double-A.
